Ahh yes, the moment of truth has come, and you're ready to show the world what you, your mind and your keyboard/paper have come together to create. My first piece of advice would be to use a computer if you have access to one, because you can share it online, or simply print it off for people to read. If you don't have one, then go to the Library, you can get computer time there for free.
Secondly, let people you know read your story first. Many new writers are crushed when they go and submit their story and find that nobody likes it. So test it out on people you know and then they'll give you their honest opinion and you can change it without too much emotional scarring.
Thirdly, looking around for places to submit your story is definitely worth it. you want to find a place frequented by many people that will gain your story a few hits. Big message boards are a good place to go, and making connections through chat rooms and MSN etc. is very useful. Eventually, you will gain some rep as an underground writer and people will want to read more of your work, good luck!
