So it's a bit late, but who cares? This is just to wish everybody a safe and productive new year; in writing or otherwise!
This message is also to say that I will be turning over a new leaf in terms of how much I contribute to the site, and hopefully you'll all be doing the same.
Have a good one everyone!

Yeah I think we all need to contribute more to this site.
I also think we need to get everyone to be a bit more active, seeing as you, Payrune, Roze, madkill and myself are the most active and apart from Roze it is usually just in the form of chatting (hmm kinda like we are now really!!)
It would be good if we could get some more people regularly submitting work and also commenting on people's work, something that is lacking at the moment. I know that I for one would be a lot more encouraged and motivated to type more if I knew for certain people were reading and if I had both positive and negative comments. Something Im sure most people can relate to.
edit: haha, something I just noticed looking at our list of members, Im the only one (apart from our awesome Admin/Monderator team) who isn't on 'Newbie'!! I just find thins kinda funny!!

I'm usually too busy with my own work (which I still have yet to submit, unfortunately) to look over and critique everyone else's. School starts back tomorrow, and I can't help but feel I could've taken some time out from playing video games, working on my own stuff, etc. over the holidays to give some feedback and keep this place a little more alive. It makes me feel selfish and ashamed, but I'm really going to try and squeeze it into my schedule this year around.
I think what we really need is an ace in the hole, something to attract lots of members so the place will become more active in the future. Whatever it is we have to do in order to achieve this, whether it be a complete makeover of the site, add in some new stuff, change things around, etc. we'll have to get on the ball this time around. I believe advertising will be our best bet; although we've tried and failed at this in the past, it's really our only hope. Advertising is difficult, especially on other sites where people don't want you doing it and dragging away their own members. But we'll have to find a way.
And no, I'm not just giving out orders for my noble minions to carry out, my lazy ass will be participating in this rejuvenation as well.

Yeah Im definately guilty of the spending too much time playing video games and the like.
I really need to try and force myself to type more. Ive hand-written a lot of my main story so its not like Im getting writer block all the time. My main problem is that I find it hard to motivate myself, I feel like I dont have a reason to stick at it.
I think we also need to encourage people to log in and look at stuff more often and there isnt usually a lot of active members!! If people log in and read other people's work there is a chance that it will help them. I do realise that some people cant log in everyday (which I can seeing as I dont work and have a lot of free time as well as my own computer) but it would be good if people tried to log in at least once a week.

Yeah, we've all been playing video games and working on our own stuff, so we've all sinned in that respect.
Basically, I think that 'ace in the hole' you're referring to might be more elusive than we'd like to think. Advertising will definitely help, but you pointed out all the major problems we've had with that Payrune, so it's going to be difficult. Having said that, it's not impossible.
The RP is going to increase our members, I think. But I also believe more additions to the discussion boards will entice people to come, and issues that people really care about will increase that number.
