The Journal of Udim Nomaluling, 18th slate, 304, Mid-Spring.
I am starting this journal because my old one was lost in the attack. Maybe the Orcs took it, I don't know. I do not dare leave the barracks, for they are still out there.
If I should die, and someone finds this, that the undoing of my people. It all started when the goblins attacked. Woefully unprepared for military action, our untrained militia were decimated in the battle, and although we were victorious, the cost was great. many dwarves died in that battle.
And if that was not enough, before the bodies of the fallen had even gone cold, another vile force of darkness assaulted us. The orcs, stronger, more cunning and better equipped than their Goblin cousins, and facing a tired and broken resistance, they quickly crushed our pitiful forces. They did not even spare the children!
Only I survived, as I escaped the battle and locked myself in the barracks. I dare not leave, for I can hear the orcs still. They prowl the corridors, knowing I still live. I dare not leave, for the orcs are still out there.
I dare not leave...
To be continued.

The Journal of Catten Agfikod, 1st Granite, 305, Early Spring.
It's been nearly a year since Tashemstinthäd fell to the Orcs. I have been sent to reclaim it, in the name of honour and glory! So far, no sign of the Orcs. They probably left after looting the place. But they'll be back. Orcs always come back.
I've ordered the soldiers to search the Hamlet in the hopes that we'll find something worth killing. I fear Armok will grow impatient if blood is not spilled soon.
The Journal of Catten Agfikod, 9th Granite, 305, Early Spring.
We opened the barracks today, and were greeted with the stench of death. Some poor dwarf starved to death, just across from the food stockpile.
On another note, I've ordered an office dug out for me next to the barracks. If I have to lead this place, I have to do it right.
Still no trace of the Orcs. Time will tell if we find anything, I suppose.
To be continued.

I probably won't continue this. It's a story based on what happens in an open ended video game, but since most of you probably don't play this video game, everything will likely go over your heads. At the very least, you won't be able to appreciate it fully, so I'll just leave it like this.
