Dream
It was just another boring school day.
The parents were at work and the kids were at play.
And once again there I was sitting and staring in a daze…
The parents were at work and the kids were at play.
And once again there I was sitting and staring in a daze…
The colour had temporarily been sucked out of my life and once more the world around me was just a big grey blur. I was so tired that I felt like collapsing there and then; but I didn't want to interrupt the Mrs. Celiski's boring lecture, or should I perhaps say extra long hissy-fit at the class? She was babbling on and on about how we were always so noisy when we lined up after recess and lunch and how all of her other language classes were much better behaved.
I sat there bored and yet somehow amazed at how long a single teacher could yell at her Italian class. She was beginning to sweat, which made her thick coat of make-up run down her face. At this point I was on the verge of reminding her how close your mouth is to your ear; so if she kept shouting like that she would go deaf. As I watched her temple grow large and pulsate under her mass of matted brown hair; I decided to focus on something less disturbing. I started to remember a song and thus began to completely disregard all that the teacher was saying. I zoned out and listened to the music in my head writing down the lyrics as I remembered them, it went something like this,
"Isn't I funny how you never really screamed, at my face
But your anger so unspoken and unchannelled permeates my essence to the point where I
Don't wanna see you, hear you, be anywhere near you
You probably think I'm threatened by you
But your illusionary power doesn't threaten me …"

Don't wanna see you, hear you, be anywhere near you
You probably think I'm threatened by you
But your illusionary power doesn't threaten me …"
And so on and so forth. Once I had written it out I started trying to remember the band that played it to no avail. I looked up from my music and discovered that the teacher had finished her lecture and we were starting work on our numbers, "uno, due, tre, quatre, cinque, sei…" I don't believe I've encountered many lessons that incredibly mind-numbingly boring since that day. Then again, almost all Italian lessons were like that.
Once again monotony struck as we were handed some worksheets to complete by home time. With my head resting on my hand I began working. I was getting sort of tired so I decided to rest my eyes for just a bit, and as I did so I felt myself slipping away into a deep slumber. Then out of the blue I heard a screech and my head jerked upwards, it was just a hawk flying around, 'I might as well go back to sleep' I thought to myself. Then it hit me… I was inside a stinking hot room on a stinking hot day, how could it be a hawk? Once again my head shot upwards and my eyes opened I was outside and it was night, but how could that be? It was day when I fell asleep and I was inside a classroom at school, whereas here I was…wait where was I?

Meanwhile back in class…
Everybody was still finishing their Italian work, desperately trying to finish before the end of the lesson. Of course some people, i.e. my friend Lauren had already finished and was wondering why I was taking so long. The part that I found most amusing was that as of yet no-one had worked out that I was asleep.

Back in my dream…
I began to drift around aimlessly, trying my best to stay calm. How had I got there? While wondering around the place I began to notice things that were different. There were hardly any animals at all, just the birds in the sky, some lions and tigers and some domestic animals such as horses, pigs, sheep and cattle.
While I was wandering around I began to become conscious of other things such as the fact that all of the buildings were made of wood and leaves and plastered together with mud, it was as though bricks and mortar hadn't been invented yet. The people living in this world were all dressed as if they were medieval peasants. It was as though I had stumbled into a parallel universe where rather than cats and dogs people owned lions and tigers and rather than walking around during the day people were wandering about at night. Off in the distance I could see a tall tower with small pods coming from the sides of it, each pod with a single barred window; it somehow reminded me of a jail. A vehicle suddenly appeared from around the corner of a dirt and cobblestone road moving swiftly. A road I happened to be standing right in the middle of.

Meanwhile back in my reality…
People were beginning to turn around and stare. It was the first time in the history of Tenac Primary School that anyone had ever actually fallen asleep in class, well as far as we knew anyway. Signora Celiski was standing right in front of me with her hands on my desk, "April! What are you doing? Get on with your work! Come on this isn't like you, normally you’re the first one to finish these dull, boring and utterly pointless worksheets." (Okay she didn't actually say dull, boring or pointless but I just had to put that in). Anyway my best friend Meg deciding to state the obvious said, "Mrs. Celiski April's fallen asleep!" as though it was the most fascinating thing she'd ever seen in her life.

But I wasn't listening…
The vehicle was coming straight at me. Quickly recovering from my shock I ran off the road. As the person drove past I saw that people were bowing to them. "Geez they must be really important" I thought out loud. I was just about to go over to them and ask where I was when out of nowhere a hand reached up and pulled me down. "Thanks for that" I said sarcastically.
"Your welcome" replied the owner of the hand with a smile on his face. As the driver passed us I realized what it was that they were driving. It was a hovercraft; I wondered how a person could own a hovercraft in a world where they hadn't even discovered electricity yet. Also the driver appeared to be wearing some sort of night goggles.
As the incredible contraption glided past I examined the boy that had pulled my arm. He was average height and of slim build. He had blonde shaggy hair. He looked nice enough.
Once the hovercraft had gone by I decided to ask the boy who the driver was, but he got in first, "Who are you? I haven't seen you around here before."
"My name is April", I replied, "And you haven't seen me because I've never actually been here before." I explained nervously.
"Well then, let me be the first to say…Welcome to Entapsy! I'm Sean Wolf and I have been here as long as I can remember. So where do you come from?" He inquired enthusiastically. I felt as thought I was being interrogated.
"Well…"

In Italian weird things were afoot…
Everybody had started crowding around my desk trying to wake me up. They were all yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs saying things like "Stop faking it!" and "Come on we all know you're awake!" Then something happened that no-one could have predicted; Lorry got an idea. He thought that I would wake up if he shook me. But as soon as he touched my shoulder I turned to dust and vanished.

In Entapsy…
I was trying to explain to Sean what I thought had happened. "I think that I have just fallen asleep in my world and this is all just a dream, a crazy, realistic and somehow familiar dream…"
"Interesting…very interesting…" said Sean trying to hide the laughter that was present in his greenish-blue eyes.
"I'm serious!" I said trying to get some sympathy from the blonde-haired boy. Then again, if you think about it, no 14 year old boy would really listen to a story like that.
"Look", said Sean, "I think that you might need a drink and some rest. Where do you live I'll walk you home." I gave him one of those looks that says; 'you have got to be kidding me'. "Oh that's right", he said smirking, "This is all just a weird dream so you wouldn't have a house." I rolled my eyes. "Well crazy one I shall leave you to wake up. Catcha later."
"Wait! Please help me!" I begged not wanting to be left alone.
"Okay, you can come stay at my house near the Kutani field", He said finally showing me some pity.
"The what now? Won't your parents be annoyed that you brought home a stranger?" I asked shocked.
"The Kutani plants, you know, the giant purple flowers? And no they won't be annoyed because I don't have parents, no-one here does we live by ourselves." We started walking to his place, this time being careful to stay off the road.

In the meantime, back at school…
Everyone was terrified at what they had just witnessed and Lorry was fretting over what he had done to make me disappear. Mrs. Celiski wasn't convinced that I had actually disappeared and sent the other students out to search for me in the yard thinking it was a plot to skip class. When everyone came back empty-handed she went to the principal's office and rung up my parents, who were absolutely sure that I had to be at school somewhere. At this point the teacher began to panic.

In Entapsy…
Sean and I had arrived at his house and were inside trying to figure out a way for me to get home. "What I don't understand Sean is how you got here in the first place. Do you even remember? Were you born here?"
"I don't think so, but then again I can't remember anything past my 10th birthday ", he replied with a puzzled expression on his face, "Nobody is born here they just wake up here and hope that one day they will remember why they came here in the first place. When they do remember they go back, that is why there are no old people here. Most people remember after about 5 years and just vanish in to thin air. The only adult in this whole place is the magician, our ruler. The one that went past on that hovercraft."
"So that's why everyone was bowing to her", I said running over everything in my mind, "So what do people have to remember to get out of here?"
"That's it!" Sean said excitedly, "Just before everyone leaves they start singing a song, the song that they were singing or thinking of at the moment they woke up here. What song were you thinking of when you woke up?"
"I was thinking of that song…by…George…I was thinking of Special Ones by George!" I said hoping that whatever Sean had planned would get me out of there.
"Who is George?" asked Sean scratching his head, "Oh never mind, start singing the song, come on I want to see if this works!" Just as I was about to start singing there was a knock on the front door. Sean told me to wait until he got back and went to answer the door. It was some of Sean's friends. Sean came over to me and did introductions, "April this is Josh, Drew, Terri and Simon. Guys this is April." I said hello to everyone and Sean whispered to me, "You probably shouldn't mention how you got here, or they'll all freak."
"Okay." I promised him a little disappointed. Sean and his friends took me to see what I had first thought to be a jail. It was actually a music studio; each pod was made for practicing a different instrument, there was one for guitar and one for drums and the biggest pod held my favorite instrument, microphones. I couldn't resist I ran up to one and started to sing.
"No don't!" said Sean. Then before I had realized why he was panicking I warped again.

I was back in the classroom I was back in my reality. But no-one was there, then I become conscious of how long I had been gone, school was over it was 5 o'clock.
Just then Mrs. Celiski walked in with Meg, Lauren and Lorry, I was back. I think Mrs. Celiski nearly fainted from the shock of the sight of me. Meg and Lauren were so glad to see me that they ran over and hugged me. Lorry was just altogether traumatized and couldn't even move. They all sat me down and explained what had happened on their side of the universe. But when I told them my side of the story they all just laughed "April you've got one wild imagination!" said Lauren.
From that day on I always got plenty of sleep and never, ever fell asleep in class again.

3 weeks later in the newspaper…
"14 year old boy wakes from comma singing a song of joy.
After 4 years of waiting Sean Wolf and his friends; Josh, Drew, Terri and Simon all finally awoke from their coma into the loving arms of their parents. After the near fatal car crash had forced these friends into a comatose state there was little hope of recovery. But at last all awoke at the same time singing the same song. Each and every one of them had a similar story to tell of a place called 'Entapsy' where they believed they had been for the past 4 years, but by far the most interesting was Sean's story of how they had all been helped out on their way back by a girl named April who is according to Sean a great singer. So if you do exist and you happen to read this April we would like thank you for all you have done."
